The match between the Kiama Albert and Shellharbour Albert Clubs came off on Saturday last at Shellharbour. Shortly after 12 o'clock the Shellharbour team having won the toss sent their opponents to the wickets. Messrs. Williams, Allen, Deane and Hughes bowled during the innings, which was protracted to an unusual length by the steady play of several of the Kiama men, notably Marks and Howell. At 2 o'clock the players adjourned to a luncheon, which was hospitably provided by the Shellharbour Alberts at Conghran's Hotel. Soon after resuming play the innings terminated for a total of 80 runs. The Shellharbour men, who without loss of time took the wickets, were disposed of for 31, chiefly owing to the excellent bowling of R.King. The second innings for Kiama brought up their total to 131. At a late hour the Shellharbour team went in the second time, with 101 runs to get to win; but when the stumps were drawn 5 of their best batsmen were out for 12 runs. The match was thus decided by the first innings, and Kiama won the ball.
