KIAMA UNITED CRICKET CLUB - The second annual meeting of this club was held in the (late) Post Office on Friday night last, when there was a tolerable attendance of members, and business was entered upon in preparation for the coming season with laudable spirit - G.L. Fuller, Esq, J.P. presiding. The secretary read a resume of the work of the club for the year 1873-4. It showed the club had engaged in eight public matches, in six of which they had been the victors and in two the vanquished; congratulated the club upon its activity and success, and upon having been the first to invite a metropolitan team to the district; and expressed a hope that the coming season might be even a more animated one. Mr R.King received special praise for the excellent batting he had displayed during the season; he had played seven matches, his scores being respectively 16, 14, 44, 29, 26, 40, 21 - in all 190. Prize bats had been won by Mr. R.King and Mr. S.Gordon; and though an analysis had not been kept of the bowling, Messrs. C. McCaffrey and John Spinks deserved honourable mention for their performances in the branch. The financial report of the treasurer showed that contributions had been received to the amount of £11 16s, in addition to which there had been presentations to the club by Mr. W. D. Meares of a bat, and Mr. Joseph Redford, of a set of stumps; and six balls had been won by the club. The expenditure had amounted to £11 12s, 3d, leaving a small balance to credit. After adopting the above reports, the meeting proceeded with the election of office bearers for the year 1874-5, which resulted as follows - president, G. L. Fuller, Esq, J.P.; vice-president A. Osbourne, Esq., J.P.; hon treasurer, Mr. Samuel Gordon; hon. secretary, Mr Fred Pinkstone; managing committee, Messrs James marks, C and J. McCaffrey, James Spinks, R.King, J.Hincks, H.Pike and S.Richardson. It was then resolved that the highest aggregate scorer in the ensuing season should be presented with a prize bat bearing a suitable inscription; the secretary was directed to communicate with the Shoalhaven United and East Sydney clubs with a view to arrange matches; and other routine business done, when the meeting terminated, - practice being appointed for Saturday afternoon next.
