The Kiama Alberts met the Ulladulla cricketers on Anniversary Day at Shoalhaven. The match resulted in a victory for Kiama by seven runs. The Kiama men, who went first to the wickets, made in their first innings 38 runs. Ulladulla followed and were disposed of for 16. Kiama in the second innings made 27, leaving their opponents 50 to get to win. Up to the last moment the result was doubtful, as the Ulladulla men batted much better than in their first attempt; but the last wicket fell when the score had reached 42, thus leaving them 7 runs behind Kiama. The fielding was on the whole good. The bowling of R.King, C.McCaffrey and John Spinks for Kiama was, as usual, very good; and for Ulladulla, Warden and McMahon were well on the wicket. Mr. G. L. Fuller acted as umpire for Kiama, and Mr Henry Millard for Ulladulla. The best of good feeling prevailed throughout the game, which was witnessed by some two hundred spectators of which the fair sex showed a good part. Comment was made upon the appearance of the Kiama team with their mourning sashes on, and when it was made known that such was in respectful and fond memory of a brother cricketer, the late Mr. Samuel Gordon, general feeling ran high in favour of the unanimity shown by them.
